String Magic

Woven & Spun

Whether it is fibre spun on a drop spindle or spinning wheel for your own string magic, or woven threads into ritual wear and sacred cloth; each piece is imbued with the elemental essence of our west coast beach cottage and created with specific soul medicines. Sometimes hand embroidered runes, ogham, or small shells, bones, driftwood, or stones have been sewn in. Commissions are considered. Please use the Request form at the bottom of the page to discuss.

Raincoast Twilight hooded wrap
There is a relief found in a Raincoast Twilight. One of nuanced, subtly changing colour as a freshly set Sun dresses the coast in chicory flower blues, dusty rose pinks, and all the greens deepen juuust as shadows begin to seep into the recesses and best hiding spots.

It's when the work of the day has completed and there is time to breathe in the freshness of salty air. It's when the sea lions cruise past the bay on their way to pinniped island and harbour seals quietly fish their evening meal. If fortunate, a heron might be seen stalk still, silhouetted, while ravens swoop and dive, cajoling with acrobatic feats headed for their favourite roosting trees.

It's a liminal space. Ripe for magic both mundane and most high. Where land meets sea and day meets night.
This is the essence held while hand weaving this ultra soft 73" long hooded wrap of mostly baby alpaca and merino wool.
$250 Canadian + $20 shipping
Salish Sea 3/4 Sleeve
If the Salish Sea could wrap you in a woollen stole, it would be hand woven by a selkie in her beach cottage.

With 3/4 sleeves, she perfect for cool evenings or for those who find wraps a little fussy. The first 5 inches from the cuff are hemmed so she can slide off your shoulders and hang about your elbows without worry of falling to the floor.

Measurements upon request.

Divination Shawl
Some of us are drawn to throw bones when seeking wise council.
Some of us read the phases of the moon and work closely with cycle teachings, medicine wheels, or sacred archetypes and medicines within the circle.
Some of us feel the urge to take our practice deeper.
Some are called to finally begin.

This homespun, handwoven, indigo dyed, wool Bone Casting Shawl wraps its companion in warmth and style while keeping divination tools close at hand. She comes with 3 pockets (YES! POCKETS!) and a woven pouch of collected bones to cast and read. Seal, Deer, Elk tooth, Bobcat tooth, Chicken, Moonsnail bored Clam shell, and Salmon jaw. Pull the hand carved driftwood brooch and spread this shawl on the forest floor, foreshore, lawn or table to toss bones onto the casting surface for in-the-moment divination needs.

Adorned with handmade ceramic moon phase buttons aligned with the 4 directions/airts/winds, and of course the sovereign center within the sacred circle, the diviner is offered layers upon layers of information with every toss.

Included with this piece is access to two online wisdom shares: "Divination Techniques ~ a strong foundation in 7 methods" plus "Cycle Teachings & Medicinal Wheels" as practice supports should one wish.
Suitable for wear out and about in the town or only during ritual. She will undergo a dedication ceremony before being homed.
Shawl, bones, plus 2 online courses: $500 Canadian + $20 shipping

This is the essence held while hand weaving these two 10" x 12" cotton cloths. They turn any morning tea into a ceremony of breaking fast, tuck sweetly into pockets for travelling altars, or bring an extra dose of mindful loving to ritual washing. Little slate blue hand formed ceramic dish included for offerings, sacred items, or to host a delectable nibble.

Lovingly Homed & Creation Stories

From creation to flying the nest
A sweet reflection on some favourite pieces that have traveled from our hearth along with some images of their birthing processes. While some stay close and live here on the Upper Sunshine Coast, others have traveled to destinations across the Canada and into the US. It warms my heart to know each is supporting sacred work, helping to heal, or being used ritually ~ either in quietly personal ways or by ceremonialists during community ceremonies and private sessions.

The Selkie Sanctuary

The Selkie Sanctuary is a seaside art studio, bakery, ceremonial space, and cottage on land that is ritually engaged with and cared for. It is a place where many have come to restore their sealskin/soulskin. A place where intentionally created offerings come to life. Where medicine is made.
