Pottery Subscription

Pottery Subscription

If you love bespoke pottery, ceremonial or intentional working, and surprise goodies in the mail, I invite you to consider a one time annual Pottery Subscription!  With your subscription, you will receive four, one of a kind, made for you, mugs or tumblers over the course of a year, with shipping included for Canadian & US addresses.

Your drinking vessels will all be stoneware, fired to a temperature between 1185 and 2200 degrees fahrenheit, with food safe glazes and either hand carved (sgraffito), hand painted, and/or sculpted features. My designs tend toward animal spirit guides, deities, natural elements like the moon, runes, ogham, mandala-like intentional imagery, vulvas, and interior symbols supporting tea leaf reading.  I am also partial to ergonomic handles, which almost look "upside down" when compared to usual mug handles, yet are much more conducive to the needs of our human body. Excellent for those of us needing a little extra hand and wrist kindness!

Pictured here are samples of previous mugs and tumblers. The way that I work is by feeling essences, energies, and messages that come sit with me or tug at my awareness until I offer them opportunity to come through into the clay. When I make your drinking vessels, I will be feeling out for these such insights while working ~ and so ~ am unable to predict just what designs, shapes, or qualities your unique cups will have. You may or may not also receive an accompanying story, message, note of intention, or other ritual support package to go along with.

My hope is your vessels will bring opportunities for ritual more often into your days or nights and keep ceremony present in your life ~ be it with your morning coffee, full moon cacao ceremonies, tea leaf reading for self and friends, during deep personal sacred work or quiet, consistent, daily tending of wishes and dreams.

Your one time annual subscription, in turn, supports me in this work with both your trust and confidence as well as helping to ensure my family and supply costs are taken care of. For truly it is an honour and gift to sit as mud witch for my community and to send magic from our hearth to yours.

The value of each mug or tumbler ranges from $40 to $80+ with shipping on average across Canada and the US at $25. This means with your subscription of $200 for the year, you will receive between $260 and $420+ worth of bespoke functional ceremonial ceramics.

If you would like to gift a subscription, let me know during the check out process and I will send you a digital gift certificate to give now and then include a handwritten note with their first package.

1 Year Pottery Subscription
$200 Canadian

* Important Policies *
By placing your 1 year pottery subscription, you agree to the following terms:
a) Each of your 4 drinking vessels will be tested to ensure they appropriately hold hot liquid and any attached handles will be tested before packaging
b) All pottery will be well packaged for safety and sent via Canada Post with insurance
c) Replacements will only be considered if vessel arrives damaged from transport. There will be no exchanges or refunds due to breakage from use, accident, negligence, or design preference on the buyers part.
d) Subscription year will be calculated from the date of your purchase. Your 4 drinking vessels will be created and sent individually at any interval over the course of the year.
e) Shipping costs will be extra for countries outside of Canada and the US. Please message me first for estimates and to make special arrangements.
* Care & Handling of your Pottery *
While your Selkie Sanctuary drinking vessels will be made with durable stoneware and tested for functionality prior to shipping, there are certain "best practices" to help ensure the longevity of any handmade ceramic pieces.
a) Prewarming any special cup or mug under warm water prior to filling it with boiling water is always recommended. Particularly during cold Winters.
b) Handwashing is always preferred over machine, even if your piece is made with durable stoneware or is labeled "dishwasher safe"
c) Use microwaves cautiously. Ensuring any hand made ceramics are thoroughly dry before any microwave use is vital. You will note an area on the bottom of handmade cups that is unglazed, this is where moisture can sometimes be absorbed, particularly if made with low fired earthenware clay. Absorbed moisture can cause breakage with microwave use. I will only ever send you mid fire stoneware vessels which * should * be microwave safe, but hey, this is a list of best practices. If you love a piece, you will want to treat it extra fine :)
d) Ceramics, much like anything, is subject to wear and tear with use. This means your cup may survive plenty of bonks in the sink for months, but one day a small tap causes a chip or broken handle. This generally is not a fault of your potter. Small unseen can fractures happen with normal use then tend to make themselves known rather suddenly. Typically with any ceramics, handmade or factory, it is not recommended to use for food or drink if there is a crack or chip where food or mouths touch.
e) Like all dishes, always wash your wares thoroughly. Particular attention should be paid to any engravings, or textured and sculpted areas.

The Selkie Sanctuary

The Selkie Sanctuary is a seaside art studio, bakery, ceremonial space, and cottage on land that is ritually engaged with and cared for. It is a place where many have come to restore their sealskin/soulskin. A place where intentionally created offerings come to life. Where medicine is made.
These pages have been created as a well of nourishment for you to dip into, and as a means of communication from our hearth to yours.
